I hope you are feeling better soon! No, the cold and rain doesn't help at all. We are finally drying out after days and inches of rain. I hope the sunshine gets back to you soon.

Just braved the cold and rain and picked my youngest up from the bus stop, made a quick run to grocery store got my Nyquil and Ben and Jerry's Peanutbutter Cup. Took two shots and am gonna be on here till I start seeing double and then NAP-TIME!

I just found and joined another chicken forum, I'm gonna continue on this thread now that I feel like I've made a bunch of "friends". But I want to see if this one is more friendly, it's called Cricken Crossing...I'll let you guys know. I would post the link but not sure if thats "aloud". But the way it's set up it seem to be by the same people.

LMAO! It's true!! Welcome, Wynette! How goes it?!

Well, guys... I'm officially going to cry. I just fostered a litter of 5 newborn kittens from the day they were born until about 2 and a half weeks old. Then we got in a momma cat that had 2 kittens about 5 days younger than mine. She became the surrogate mother and has had them for about a week and a half now, but lately has been having some problems. I'm not sure if she just can't handle all 7, isn't producing enough milk, or what. All I know is that all of my kittens, especially 1 or 2 in particular, are starving! Just skinny and screaming all the time. I've been supplementing them with a bottle while I'm at work, coming in late at night and on weekends to check up on them and feed them, I've taken them home a night here and a night there... It's exhausting and I'm very worried about them pulling through. They seem more perky today, though still hungry. A couple are starting to try canned food, which is great! The sooner I can get them to eat, the better off they'll be, because they definitely aren't getting enough milk from mom, and they're just chewing the nipple on the bottle now that those tiny teefers are coming in. HOWEVER somebody just found a NEWBORN kitten on the side of the road. Aye aye aye. I don't know what I'm going to do.

Hang in there, Rachel - sounds like it's time to call in reinforcements! I had a foal born many years ago and the momma, our very favorite mare, died 8 hrs. later, being worked on by the vet the entire time. I had to hand raise this foal with my husband, and they need to eat every 3 hours, AROUND THE CLOCK. I was shocked at how many neighbors (we have no relatives as we are transplants) came forth offering assistance. I made a spreasheet with times and dates on it, and whoever fed Annie (as in little orphan) initialed it and wrote how much she drank. It worked out fantastically!

Aw, that's a nice story! Obviously, minus the poor mare passing away

but it's awesome that so many people were willing to help! I'll have to see if maybe I can find someone who's already bottle feeding a few or has a lactating mother. If I HAVE to do it, I will suck it up and do it. I just don't think I can physically, mentally, or emotionally do the around the clock thing again so soon! I still haven't quite recovered from that! Thanks for the encouraging words!

I didn't like Chicken Crossing. They claimed to let you let it all hang out without being banned....well, I got banned real quick! They won't let me on any more!! It's most of the peopel that were not happy with this site, the moderators editing their posts, etc. The rebels, I guess. Some left that site and came back to this site even tho they don't post much.
