Bring your "Howdy's" here!

Bluemoon--That stinks! Is he busy most of the time or is he spending a majority of his time in that hotel? If he wasn't there much it would make it a little better.

Paty--So far, the show prep is going smoothly. I have all judges accounted for, the entertainment lined up, prize picked out and the script started. I still need to call to have the stage in place, order the plaque and answer the hundreds of questions the contestants have! Oh, and pray for no rain since I didn't pick a backup rain out location! If I survive this, I have the state show to look forward to. This one I am on my own, but it is local and not too big of a deal. The state one is going to be held during the fair at the grandstand. The nice folks from Nashville will take care of most of it, but the thought and little details I need to take care of for it is stressing me too! I keep telling myself, one show at a time, just worry one at a time...

No he's usually at the plant about 12 hours, but when he is back at the hotel he at least likes to search the internet. He can't even do that. That's why he thinks it's a pyschological test of some sort

He said there is nothing else around. No places to eat...nothing. The hotel does serve dinner.

He said he's only there until Saturday, and then he might have access to an internet cafe. Poor guy

That would probably drive me crazy!! Now all he can do is sit around and think about how much he misses you! lol My hubby called, they had a storm move through camp and had to evacuate to the mess hall for 2 hours last night! I told him they could all sit around and sing Kumbaya!

They got like 2-3 inches of rain. We were luckier and just got a little rain, but things are so saturated that it is ridiculous around here!

And wonderful news, my guineas have hatched 6 babies so far!!

I am so excited!

Bad news, we have a small barred rock and a little guinea (both about 3 weeks old) that have escaped from the brooder. Of course, my daughter and I can't catch them and the boys won't be back until Saturday. We went out and bought little butterfly nets and spent hours in the garage last night trying to hunt them down to no avail. We finally put out food and water for them and shut all the cats out and gave up. Oliver was angry that she had to stay out in the storm last night, so I let her back in this morning. Normally she is "keeper of the chickens" and very protective, so let's hope she stays that way!

Congrats on the guineas! I almost got some guineas, but decided to wait.
Maybe the escapees will see the error of their ways, and come back begging to be put back in the brooder.

My cats would have had some snacks.

DH also forgot his Ipod so he is really going nuts.

No ipod?? I would die without my music! I was thinking the same thing, and they would come back to the brooder, just didn't trust us enough to put them back in it with their buddies! I am hoping

Oliver is kind to them. She really is good with the babies, but I wouldn't trust any of the other cats at all. By the time dd and I chased them so long last night, I had decided I didn't care what happened to them (not really) but I can't kick her out of the garage for a whole week. That is hubby's baby (and he hates cats). By the time we got back with the nets about 3 hours later (had other errands to run) we didn't even see the guinea again and the barred rock just seemed to be taunting us.

I can picture the barred rock now.... Here I am! Nope, missed me! Here I am! Nope, too slow!

Did you try putting down some treats like grapes, yogurt, cheese? Something they can't resist....Mine LOVE grapes, and cheese. They practically do tricks for them.

Oh wow Michelle I hope you catch the escapees!!! I know the feeling when you chase the little suckers and can't catch them! I finally get mad and yell at them as I walk back to the house defeated by a little chick!!

Truly sad!!!

I'm glad your show is coming together! It sounds like ALOT of work! Oh and YAY on the guineas hatching!! I had 5 hatch yesterday! What color are yours? Mine are lavender
Bluemoon, is your husband calling you alot now that he is in exile!!??

Poor guy. My sister lived in Italy when she was married. her ex husband was stationed there. She loved it and still has Italian friends that she writes to.

Where is PRC and Steve?? There are a lot of folks missing from this thread!! Hopefully everyone is ok!

Here is a picture of one of my Serama chicks next to my Black Copper Maran! Tiny little bugger!

He's been texting me mostly, and usually calls in the evenings. We normally use skype, but he can't use that because there's no internet. He doesn't to rack up minutes on the company phone.
We have Italian friends who give us wine, homemade wine, coffee. All sorts of goodies

I think PRC is now under full control by the silkies. I tried to warn him they were evil.....

Yes. Bottom line. They are much faster than we are! My husband leaves for one week each year. Something always happens in that time. I am hoping that this is the thing and it is nothing worse than having rebellious birds.

Cute, cute babies! I am not sure what color my guineas are. I am not very good at all that color stuff. The adults are: 1 buff and I think 1 dark male and the females are 2 white and 1 dark. The babies look like little chipmunks with a white belly. The nest had over 30 eggs in it so hoping there more when we get home today. I have had 2 females taking care of the nest.
