Brinsea Improved and expanded Mini and Ovation incubators

thanks-
Are you saying I should put the paper towel or sponge actually inside the water chamber? Also I'm nervous about removing the trees and setting the expectation. Just do it quickly and all will be well? Oh yeah, and what about the vet do I still leave it open or do I close it slightly?
Thank you!!!!!
You will likely not need the paper towel or sponge. Fill the channels and see what humidity goes to.

Lockdown is actually setting up for hatching. It is used to get the point across that you should not open up the incubator too much. At this point, you could take the top off of the incubator for a couple of hours. Heat is more important at this time than humidity. Ok, temperature is always more important but is less important at the end of incubation.

Unless there are pips or big holes in the eggs, humidity can be a bit low. Relax! Take a deep breath! It will be fine.

Do the set up for hatching by moving the eggs into position and adding the water. You may have to add more water in a couple of days but that will be fine too.

Keep us updated on the progress of the hatch

Thank you, we're getting pretty excited about it!!
So what you're saying is fill up the chambers- can you give me a rough idea on what amount of water that might be? I guess I'm nervous because whenever I put the water in it shoots up the humidity really high and then goes back down, so if I fill up the chambers what will that skyrocket to? Also I need to take those little removable trays out and just set the eggs at the bottom?
Thanks!!
Lisa

humidity is based on surface area not amount of water. Fill them to the top of each chamber so that it will last longer. The way to control humidity is to fill less chambers which equals less surface area.

Sponges increase humidity a lot because there is a lot of surface area in a sponge.

Super-thanks again for all your help. So should I go into the settings and change the humidity to 65% now? Also is it OK to just lay the eggs right onto the base? They won't be pointing down anymore.

Candle the eggs and put the air cell to the top.

Your model does not have a humidity pump? The setting does not change humidity unless there is a pump.

Monitor the humidity on the readout though. 65% is good for hatching.

Ok-
well it came standard set to 20% and when I set the eggs,
I changed it to 45% that's why I was wondering.

It would be good for reference--as a reminder of the humidity you want.

I hope you have a great hatch!

Do I change the vent at all? It's open all the way now. Also, stick the sponge right into the chamber, or leave it at the base with the eggs are? We're almost there!!

Also I just read that I lower the temperature slightly. Do I do that as well? I don't remember reading that in the manual.
