You will likely not need the paper towel or sponge. Fill the channels and see what humidity goes to.thanks-
Are you saying I should put the paper towel or sponge actually inside the water chamber? Also I'm nervous about removing the trees and setting the expectation. Just do it quickly and all will be well? Oh yeah, and what about the vet do I still leave it open or do I close it slightly?

Lockdown is actually setting up for hatching. It is used to get the point across that you should not open up the incubator too much. At this point, you could take the top off of the incubator for a couple of hours. Heat is more important at this time than humidity. Ok, temperature is always more important but is less important at the end of incubation.
Unless there are pips or big holes in the eggs, humidity can be a bit low. Relax! Take a deep breath! It will be fine.
Do the set up for hatching by moving the eggs into position and adding the water. You may have to add more water in a couple of days but that will be fine too.
