Brooder light question

The exterior of those housings get extremely hot....and I have a 6 yr old daughter who still is just a touch too inquisitive sometimes.  And if the clamp failef for whatever reason and fell into the brooder, it is plenty hot to set the bedding on fire if it where to lay there long enough.
The less danger the better......for both my family and the chicks! :)

I was concerned about the clamp failing too, so i rigged this up. It is adjustable, so you can lower the temperature as the chicks feather out. This does not solve the problem of the housing being hot for little fingers though.

Oh shoot, my apologies. I didn't see the dates on this, those chicks are probably all grown up by now! How gauche of me!

I'm so glad you did! This is exactly what we are looking to build for our brooder. Getting our chicks tomorrow and wanted something we can re-purpose (and can always find a use for PVC scraps). Thanks!
