BROODER thread! Post pics of your brooders!

I upgraded my girls to a 30in x 48in dog kennel. I have 7 Barred Rocks that are 26 days old. Is this too small for them? If not how much longer can I keep them in it? I have a few more months of very cold weather left. I know I'm going to need to make something bigger before they can go to an outdoor house with a pen.

they look pretty content at the moment! Nice job! Maybe you could just incorporate some attached boxes. There is a page here somewhere where they used boxes taken apart and linked together for increasingly larger brooder space. I will go search for it. I was also thinking about using a roll of hardware cloth wire, say 3ft. high, let it keep it's roll shape a bit so it stands on its own and during the day, open the door to the crate and use the roll of hardware to come out from it like a run. You could support it somehow if needed but i don't think you would have to. just temporarily wire it to the crate. You could also just put a sheet over the top of the run to keep them from jumping up. Oh and a remnant piece of linoleum (have the linoleum come out from edges of run so yours dont chew it up like mine did. lol.

Here's mine. I just got it yesterday. It's 2' X 4'. It's has panel heaters on a thermostat. I'm gonna re-paint it this spring but for now I'm going to but florring on the bottom and add holes for vents. How much ventelation does it need?

I think I got most of the needed items. Tell me what you don't see.

I'm nervous about the girls not having enough room so I added on to the previous setup which nearly doubles the size of there home:

I've since added one 2x4 roost that is about 6 inches off the ground and 28 inches long. I have another one ready to put in but 4 the girls had already jumped up and were sleeping so I didn't want to bug them.
