Here is our brooder #2, a dumpster find!
We used a dog crate brooder, and i would again, but it was difficult to access the chicks without getting "in" there myself... so here's what were using for our next two clutches... It's a former toddler bed.
Here's when he brought it home:

Plastic hardware cloth hot glued on all windows. It was missing a 'door' on the side so we used cardboard to cover the gap.

I am a newbie- and this forum has been great! Thanks to everyone that shares. I hope someday to contribute. I hope to get my chicks after vacation in August so I can spend some time with them.
If you have any farms around you, try there. That is one that no longer holds water so, I put it to use as a brooder. Many farmers have to replace a tank or two every year and have old one around. I know we do!
