Forgot to mention u can leave a small pule not too far away incase they get the urge to build when they start trying to put pine and hey on there back and take it to the nest not all do this but most of the females I have do heck the nest wasnt that big when I made it shana added to it

Anyone have any tips on how to get my button quail to go broody? I currently have 3 females and 4 males (looking to rehome one of the males soon) in a large cage with 3 floors, hiding spots, fake plants and rocks, a dust bath, etc. They were laying eggs a few months ago and my wild colored female (Penny) kept going back to the eggs and sitting on them I was really exited so I marked down about five eggs. Well, she sat on the nest for about 2 days and then just abandoned them. I candled the eggs and there was veins inside but they were already dead :(. My buttons are currently not laying eggs right now but when they do start laying again what should I do to make them incubate the eggs? :idunno
