Broody hatch-a-long!!! With Pippin!

i have a girl who is broody. she is sitting on 6 eggs from our flock and started May 10. Hatch day should be may 31. picture is of dad and a couple of our girls. mom is in the front giving the stink eye. she spent two weeks deciding if she was going to commit by sitting in nesting boxes and screaming if anyone came near her (but not all day), stomping around puffed up and growling at everyone, and doing a weird wing thing if anyone got too close. i suppose this is the equivalent of chicken PMS.

welcome to the hatch-a-long

How's Pippin doing? Princess has started coming off the nest once a day on her own now. She terrorizes everyone else while she is off and they pretty much all hide until she goes back to her nest. I guess she isn't going to let anyone forget that she is head hen.

I candled her eggs on Sunday, but didn't really see anything (just an air cell and a dark mass) except in the lightest colored one which had definite veins. I plan to candle again in a few days. It was difficult to see anything in the eggs from the last batch as well and this time I candled a day earlier since I thought it was going to rain the following few days.
