Broody hatch-a-long!!! With Pippin!

I lost a favorite hen a couple of weeks ago.

I have a persistent broody and attempts to break her were unsuccessful, and it was sad to see, so I put 3 eggs from my lost hen under her.
I noticed cracks in 2 of the eggs, one was still alive so I repaired it and tossed the dead one. She got confused a few times and I found her in the wrong nest. I moved her to a safe penned area with food and water and she seems much happier. The 2 remaining eggs are still developing well. I estimate a day or 2 delayed hatch due to the nest confusion.

I don't need any more chickens. I just hope they are both girls. I'd love to have my sweet girl back. My optimistic mind is hoping she's hiding with her own nest. She too was a persistent broody.

Today is day 17 , I'm quite excited. I've never hatched with a broody or had a hen raise chicks before.

I’m glad one made it One week old now?

fingers crossed for a pullet hehe.

Mine hatched out 2 and I gave her the other 5 from the incubator

I’m not sure if it’s because they are bantams, but they are a lot less skittish than my last broody hatch from the same momma. Momma is also not as nervous as her first time, so maybe that also has something to do with it.
