I have only had chickens for a year now, and my Barred Rock went broody for me. I set her with 11 eggs, all shades, as I have 11 girls and a barred roo. She squished the odd colored ones and kept only the 4 whites (leghorns) and 3 darkest eggs. I put them under her 5/1. They were all there 2 days ago but from what I read, you should let her do her thin, so I have tried to not bother her. She has moved the shavings to the side and most are just on the plywood. If it weren't for the colors being the same, I would think it was an accident. Maybe I should put a towel under her to keep them on something soft and then shavings over? Any suggestions.
****i put an old t-shirt under her with shavins over that while she had a snack of apple***
the eggs are much heavier than they used to be.

Hens sometimes seem to know when something is not right with the eggs and will kick them out if that is the case. Perhaps the eggs she kicked out were not developing right and it had nothing to do with their color?
