I know it's not a broody hen but it's just a electronic broody.

Hi everyone! I have a broody hen sitting on 10 eggs, problem is she refused to be moved, and with this being her first sitting I thought if I move her anyway she may give up the nest. So I was forced to move the rest of the flock. They are usually all free-range with access to my goat shed where their nesting boxes and a couple roosting bars are. Its just a basic shelter with a door we leave open since we don't have problems with preditors. (thanks to my boxers) So she stayed there, in the goat shed (ugh) and the flock went into their closed coop w/run that I use when I buy new chicks or chickens that need to learn where home is before being allowed to free-range. They hate it. They started laying in the new area and are healthy, but not used to the confinement. I wanted to get them away from my nanny goat anyway since she will be kidding soon, and need to keep her shed clean in preperation for the new kid/kids. So down to the point.... I have a flock of 9 hens and 2 roos that are unhappy but safe, and a broody on eggs sharing what Im now calling the "mamma" shed where our goat is gonna drop her babies. Anything I can do to keep the flock happier? I'm tossing alot of veggie scraps for treats, and they love getting extra food (to make up for not having access to free-range bugs), but wanna attack me to get out the door everytime I go out there. Will they EVER settle? Gotta keep them in there for probably the next month or more till I have kid goats old enough and vaccinated, not depending on the shed 24/7. Also wanna mention, the run is plenty big enough, so space isn't a problem, they aren't attacking each other or anything, but its still WAY different than having a couple acres to roam freely.

Heard babies under

This one should follow in a few more days

They are eggs I got local ,only lost one under the EE cross so far it hatched early and didn't make it.

Hey all we got one chick hatched out on day 23 under my novice broody (second time 2 months in a row, d/t another hen taking over her clutch week 2 in June- raised up the chicks no problem) she sat tight in a nest box both times, its now day 24 and she has 5 more eggs.... I put up a little water cup (duck taped it to the edge) as well as a paper feed cup.... and she drank thirstyily, I leave town til Sat night and dont want the chick to starve or dehydrate n 5 days....
the other eggs seem warm and viable I carefully lifted one up, no stinkiness that I can tell...

They should settle down after awhile may take a week or two ,it took 3 weeks for my red cochins to all settle in together after putting my two hens in with some pullets and young roosters.

I just found this thread! I have 1 broody silkie(2nd time for her) 4 broody cochins(2nd time for 3 of them) I have another broody Cochin and seabright in my maine coop. I also have a broody EE as well. I have a Buff Orpington that hatched out 5 babies a few weeks ago, plus a lone baby that hatched. I also have an Australorp that was broody but her eggs didn't develop and she decided the 4 week old babies in the coop needed her. So she takes care of them now. Seems like every time I turn around someone else is sitting on eggs. I also have 22 eggs in two different incubators. Plus the 12 Cochin/Silkie babies my Cochins have hatched.

There should be a contest for that! How many broodies did you have this year?
Good luck with the incubator hatch too!
