Broody hen waaay past due

it's a toss-up some will some won't When a snake got one of my ducklings and I had to bring it in for the night just to make sure it was okay I took it out the next day and mama called it right to her so try. Put the duckling down close and watch it might just be fine. I don't think the duckling will do any damage to the eggs with shells but this one could be injured since it's so vulnerable right now. Nick a vein and bleed out.

Once the ducklings have all hatched you could try distracting the mama with a treat she likes and while she is up eating you could put all the ducklings from the bator in the nest with the others and see how she reacts. worth trying. just stay close in case you have to intervene.

That's a good idea! I will try. If they all make it, she'll have 8 ducklings. That's not to many for her to care for is it?

Thank you for all the help.

Nope not a all. Just feed them and keep them safe she should take care of the rest. I mean sometimes you'll have a duck that's not a good mama but most are.

Please check in tomorrow and let us know how hatch is going.

Two have hatched. The shrink wrapped one hasn't made any progress. Should I do something? The two eggs that hatched had only a dime size opening, so I'm concerned for the shrinky dink. There's one egg left to hatch that hadn't broken through yet on it's pip.

ETA: The little shrinky dink did not make it. There's still one to go, it has pipped.
