Broody hen

    Shes been sitting on the eggs for about 4 hours now

    SOme one here may have prooved that aluminum foil makes them go BROODY faster. Also fake Eggs in the same Place.

    Aluminum foil, really? That sounds so weird. She rejects fake eggs. Have tries when trying to get her to nest in certain areas

    To be Accurate, the study was on cycens, not your Bird species.

    When we had turkeys and our female had 2 hatches with us. She did not get up almost at all to leave the nest. Idk if she was very devoted or if that was normal for turkeys, but I remember thinking she would thirst to death. Also, watch her at night. Our turkey never left the nest, something came (coon, weasel, something with little fingers and nails) and it ripped out a chunk of her back and all the feathers with it. We believe whatever it was going for the eggs and she wouldn't have it. She still never moved with her back torn out and she also lived and successfully hatched ALL her babies.

    They lined the Nest with it, so that the Hen warmth would incite her to BROODY.

    So it is about 745 PM. Normally she is off the nest for about 4 hours now and in the coop. She laid egg 18 and seems mad anytime I come close to her 20190424_194555.jpg
