Broody Hens on Nest at Different Stages

Hi All,

I currently have a broody hen, ten days into sitting. She is on her own in a dog crate at the moment so other hens don’t lay in her nest. She is doing really well!

Now her sister has gone broody and she’s on day 2 but still in the coop. My question is, are the hens okay to be in the same area but in two separate crates if they are on different stages of the nest?

It’s my first time hatching and I don’t know if the hen who is just starting out will be put off when her sisters chicks hatch and she can hear them?

I wouldn’t think it’s a problem but no one can tell bird brain’s thought process. So the best thing is wait and see, unless you want to intervene - have an incubator on stand by.
