Last year our Indian Runner momma had 2 eggs which she raised to adulthood. This year those sisters had side-by-side nests and now there are lots of babies- at least 9? But we found one dead baby a bit away from the nest (which is in their shed) and there are two more dead babies in the nest.
Should I take them out? I'm afraid they got trampled, what with 2 new mommas and many siblings. And I fear if I try to get them out a stampede might cause more casualties. I could try when we feed them though.
And my other question is, is that a normal number to lose, or should I consider taking at least a few of the other babies inside? They are 1-2 days old and there are more eggs yet.
At least 2 out of 3 of the dead babies were dry and fluffy already.
