Broody leghorn

Well I think all the baby chicks are dead. I moved her and she originally sat in them so I thought all was well but this morning she wasn't on them and they were cold. I feel so bad because I candled them and 8 of them had babies just about fully developed. They weren't moving so I assume they r dead. So she was all upset and went back to her original nest so I slipped back her eggs but I'm sure it's useless. I will wait for her to give up and hope none go broody again till spring. Lesson learned

Is she back to sitting on the eggs? They may still hatch! Leave her be and see what happens. I've had that happen twice and the eggs still hatched, but it wasn't getting that chilly at night, so that may be a problem.

Yes she went right back to sitting on them and hasn't left them. She actually fluffed up at me when she seen me watching her. I sure hope your right. She was in the coop last night in an enclosed dog crate. Now she's back outside sitting on them

How many days into it is she?

I'm not sure. She went missing one day and I assumed a predator got her so I didn't count how many days she was gone. Then she came back I would say they are at least 2 to 3 weeks. I did candle the eggs they were well developed and I did open one but I'm a novice and I'm not sure how the look when the r ready to hatch. I didn't see any movement in them

She got off them for a little bit to get something to eat and drink then went right back on them.

I might give them another week, than remove them, unless you are sure they are dead, they will turn into egg bombs if left too long, they should actually start stinking through the shell if they are dead. I always like to give them a chance because in the past I've cracked eggs I thought were dead but weren't and I felt terrible.

When I candled them yesturday I didn't smell anything. Thank u. I will do that. I would like to give her a chance with them. But if none r alive I will wait till spring for chicks.
