Broody...now what?

Mine screams at me when I open the box and tries to peck me when I steal her eggs
when I closed her out of the coop earlier for cleaning she was running around all puffed up and yelling at the other chickens

Oh my, I like mine better. Lol Besides the lack of chocolate eggs, she's the sweetest girl.

I open the nesting box, she stands up, I take the eggs if any and she walks into the run with the others I do this many times a day.

That doesn't sound like a broody.

She stops laying eggs while she does this and pulled out her breast feathers to sit on the eggs, any eggs she can find. She doesn't leave the nest unless I make her. What do you call this behavior?

It’s not supposed to storm until tomorrow so I’m going to put a frozen waterbottle under her

I've had red and black sexlinks and they never went broody. One is 5 years old and still laying. My broody girl is a Black Marans. She's been out of the nest a week now and I still haven't got an egg.

Even if they aren’t known to be, any breed can go broody. I’ve had broody BRs!

She’ll just move her nest wherever she can if she needs to. Even in the middle of the coop.

Keep her in the crate for at least 48 hours.
Then let her out and hour before roosting time.
If she goes to roost, great.
If she goes to nest, back into the crate for another 48.

Only let her out at night if you feel the broody jail is not safe for use overnight (i.e. not predator proof enough/not in an area safe from nocturnal visitors).

Our run is not safe for overnight use, so I plan to move her from the jail straight to the roost.
