Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, It's cold outside!

Oh we get the heat and humidity too

Last year - we just moved here in July - and I just about FELL OVER from the sticky heat - reaching up to 100 degrees.....
I remember very well making ice and taking it out to my little girls in their tractor.... and giving them watermellon etc.. to beat the heat.

Yeah I guess I'm "lucky" and get both ends of the spectrum...

I've not heard that.....

I was outside yesterday - DH took the kids to visit friends... and I held my breath and listened to the silence....... it almost made my ears explode - it was SO quiet out here - I'm used to the city - and with kids and the city being my previous life, the silence is WEIRD!!!
No cars, no sirens going off or car alarms, no kids - it was ODD to say the least!

I know what you mean about the quiet, when I lived in NY one night it was -13, and it was screaming quiet!!!! I just stood outside and listened.
I used to listen to the trees crackle, they were frozen and the breeze would make them crackle from moving.

That's why I'll take the cold over the heat any day. If I'm cold I can put on another layer, but if I'm too hot I can only go as far as naked and that's it!

The same with the chickens, it is much easier to keep the coop warm and draft free, that to put in air conditioning.
