Wanting to know the oral dosage for Liquamycin/LA-200 - just found one of my hens with bubbly eyes. I also have Terramycin which I'll use tonight as I'm sure it'll take awhile to get an answer. I don't have any needles on hand or I'd give her a shot. Thanks!

It is an injectable antibiotic for cows or pigs given once into the muscle or under the skin, and again in 3 days. So any advice on oral dosage is really just guessing if that will work or not. That said, here in post 1 of an 11 year old thread someone has given what a poultry vet professor says to use:

Tylosin powder in the water is a good treatment for MG respiratory disease in chickens. You can find it here:

Thanks! I gave her Terramycin for tonight and I'm picking up syringes and needles tomorrow so I can inject instead. I should treat the whole flock at the same time, right?

The dosage I've found is 1cc per 5 lbs, inject IM once, then on day 3 inject again. By day 7 they should hopefully stop showing symptoms.

I would only medicate the chicken showing signs of eye bubbles or illness. No need to treat all birds. Inject either into the fullest part of the breast next to the breastbone, or under the skin in the back of the neck. Here in post 2 is dosage from Plumbs, a veterinary drug book:

Got a question for ya! I gave her the day one and day three dose of LA-200, via injection. Eyes are better, no bubbling. I was wondering about probiotics? I have probiotics i could add to the water, should I do that now or wait until, say day 7?

I think probiotics now would be fine, and you could give them for the next 10 days or so.Glad to hear the eye bubbles are gone. I hope she gets back to normal soon.

Got another question for ya! So she still has bubbly eyes on some days/not continuously either throughout the day. I feel like we didn't give her enough LA-200 for her size, she's a buff brahma... I'm thinking we should dose her again but I also don't want to overdo the antibiotics. Any idea when/if I should dose again? I'd have to look at our calendar to see when her last dose was. No other chickens have symptoms and she's always had a stuffy nose/sneezed since she was a pullet

Other than the bubbles in her eye, are there any other symptoms? If not, I would just wait and watch. As long as she is eating, drinking, and acting normally, I would hold off on antibiotics. I prefer Tylosin powder for her water over the cattle antibiotic if she has a breakout of more symptoms. I once had a hen who would develop foam in both eyes occasionally, then it would be gone later in the day. She never had any swelling of the face, cough, sneeze, or other respiratory issues. It sounds like your girl might just have a low grade chronic case.
