Oh Jen, you too? Argh, this is SO ANNOYING!

One thing Bob Gilbert said is, he thinks in our quest for good grey bar we are bringing in too much black altogether. So he suggests using a male with little or no grey bar on some with black in the hackles and seeing what happens. I only have so many pens, so may try that if I can find the space to do so.

Not sure about the significance of the feather size. Odd.

I am new to this thread But here is a few of my Buckeyes Cockrel, and two Pullets.

Find out what bloodline he is. I'm not wild about his wing carriage and the fact that so much black is showing as his primaries stick out. I'd like to see a wing that tucks under better.

But that's just me...

where do you see the black? other than on the tail.

Punky,
She's talking about his wing feathers. The black in the primaries should be hidden when the wings are folded.

Ok I have a question about the amount of black that should be in the bird. Should there be black in the hackles and the primarys of the birds? I am down to 4 hens one has the black flecks throughout so now shes going to be culled, the others seem to have alot of black in their primarys and hackles. The roosters that I have seem pretty decent though.
