Yellow,
I too, have only had buckeyes since last october. I got 3 pullets and 2 cockerels. The breeder assured me that someone should go broody during the coming summer. Others have said I'd need to wait until their second summer. I purchased an incubator for this spring and if sombody goes broody I may let her hatch some. I'm not much help, but have fun and good luck.

Thanks Folks. The fun I'm already having. When I get home from work, they run up to me and tell me all about their day, or something! Two of them seem to have figured I would just have to do for a rooster, since they don't have the real thing. They "squat" in front of me for a good rough petting. Anybody think adding a rooster would make them want to start nesting? Or, since I live in middle TN, perhaps I should drive to buy some pullets or young hens from Chris or Laura.

This is a really fun board. If you'd have told me a year ago I would be chicken-crazy, I would have though you already were.

Thanks again.

How about driving to Laura's this weekend and Chris' next weekend?

You have to be fair!

Hi everyone, I have been watching this thread for a while and absolutely love Buckeyes. I am thinking of getting some from Duane Urch.

Yikes! Don't be driving up here, I don't even have chicks yet!

I won't have pullets until later summer, if then. I seldom have extra pullets, as I keep them for my own flock. Lots of extra cockerels though.

What's with the white at the bottom of his wing?

He grew that for some reason a few months ago. Theres one on each wing and its half white and half black.
