Yellow,
I too, have only had buckeyes since last october. I got 3 pullets and 2 cockerels. The breeder assured me that someone should go broody during the coming summer. Others have said I'd need to wait until their second summer. I purchased an incubator for this spring and if sombody goes broody I may let her hatch some. I'm not much help, but have fun and good luck.
Thanks Folks. The fun I'm already having. When I get home from work, they run up to me and tell me all about their day, or something! Two of them seem to have figured I would just have to do for a rooster, since they don't have the real thing. They "squat" in front of me for a good rough petting. Anybody think adding a rooster would make them want to start nesting? Or, since I live in middle TN, perhaps I should drive to buy some pullets or young hens from Chris or Laura.
This is a really fun board. If you'd have told me a year ago I would be chicken-crazy, I would have though you already were.
Thanks again.
