Punky,

If your bird has white on his feathers, you should not use him for breeding.

There are lots of good males out there, you should find one from somewhere else rather than use this one. This is a pretty serious fault that gets worse as you breed it in.

If you can't find someone locally to sell you a male, I (or I am sure any number of other folks here) will send you one just for the cost of shipping (I have about four extra males right now.)

Where do I start! THe more I read the more I want to seriously breed a small flock of Buckeyes! I'm catching up on this thread--still back at page 20 or so. So so so much to read.

Hi Laura, I'm the one who left you a super long email the other days--thank's for the extensive feedback. Will track down those books.

Still catching up on earlier posts--at page 50.

I read the listing of strains and OMG Robert Rhodes is the Rhodes line! I'm both excited and feeling like an idiot!

:D Mr. Rhodes lives on the other side of town! Maybe 15 minutes away! A friend who has 8 hens that my children play with came from him!

Does anyone know if Mr. Rhodes is still breeding Buckeyes? I'm going to call my friend and check out her girls, but if memory serves me, they are not buckeyes. Got to make a phone call. . . .

He's on the membership list of The American Buckeye Poultry Club Arielle, and I think punky rooster on here has one from him. -Marci

Last I heard Mr. Rhodes had gotten out of Buckeyes. But if you can get some from his line, you definitely should! If for no other reason someone should keep that line pure.
