Hello My dear Buckeye People Just wanted to stop in and say Hi Laura havent heard from you for some time. Would still love some hens from you. My buckeye Operation has been a success.I have hatched probably 100 chicks from david putoffs birds there Dark rich deep color amazes me still. heres just a few of my definate keepers I have been doing early culls and placeing what I think will be good birds in growout pens and culling from those pens.heres 2 star youngsters that are in my most prized grow out pen.

Alot of breeders have had issues with the black coming out so strong as of lately. I have yet to see this issue in my flock. heres a pic of one of my stud roo's I keep him caged with a black sex link and use the offspring for our meat birds.

That's funny, I live about 15 minutes from him too! I got a cockerel from him in August, have not talked to him since

I think I'm going to need hatching eggs this spring. My roo has something major wrong with him -- he looks like a brown penguin. I'm trying some treatments, but.....maybe shouldn't breed him anyway now? I've got a post going on over at the illness/emergencies thread. Here's what he looks like. I'm guessing this is not a common problem for buckeyes, seems like they should be hardier.

I don't know what's wrong with your roo. Poor guy. I hope you get some help for him. Where did you get him?

I hope this isn't rude, but I have an extra roo. I am northwest of Sacramento.

No, I don't think it's rude to offer me a roo

! I might take you up on that. I hatched this guy last may from eggs I got off eggbid. History of the parentage was unkown. I know, I know, I should have gotten eggs from someone on this thread....Where is your roo from?

Punky Rooster--If I might ask, what breed was the cockerel from Mr. Rhodes. I wonder if anyone in town has kept some stock. The fair is not for many, many months, well into the fall; I thought I might try the poultry people at the fair . . .

You can get better quality Buckeyes from Dave, Laura, etc. but I thought I would offer, since I'm in CA. He looks pretty good to me and he is huge. I can't get a pic until it stops raining.

Sand hill does not have bad quality buckeyes, so you should get a decent bird.
I have no idea what is wrong with him, I hope you find out.
