Hello!

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I've been working through this thread for weeks. Skipped a few dozen in the middle and finally got to the end!

I've been raising chickens for a couple of years now, and I've been researching heritage breeds as I enjoy my mostly Buff Orpington flock. I'm hoping to get started with Buckeyes and Bourbon Reds (turkeys) this spring, and I'm pretty excited about it. If I can talk the hubs into buying an incubator, we might start with hatching eggs instead of day olds, which would be fun. We usually hatch under broody hens, which is less work, so I'm a little hesitant on the incubator thing. I guess we'll see.

I have enjoyed learning from all of you, and I'll probably go back to lurking for a while.

Bob Rhodes is one of the most wonderful guys. I had corresponded with him for years, and finally got to meet him last winter at the show in MA. Just a wonderful man. I wish I could have sat at his feet for hours and listened to his stories...

I would suggest a Genesis by Hovabator as a first time incubator. Very easy to operate. Even Buckeye Dave could work it!
