rustyswoman - congrats on more new chickies, I hope the last 3 make it out ok. I have eggs I got from JamesA due the 28th, so hopefully I will have a few more Buckeye's running around later this month.

I must say that it is so much easier on me to incubate right now since I have 19 babies already running around in the brooder. I am more worried about them than the bator. Make no mistake I still check humidity and temp regularly but not obsessively like I did with my first few incubations. Maybe I should just keep hatching instead of waiting until spring....

I hope your hatch goes good.Tailfeather just hatch 6 great chicks from 9 eggs I sent him and one was cracked so he got 6 chicks out of 8 usable eggs going from Georgia to Washington state so maybe yours will be as good or better!

I sure hope my hatch is as good. Thankfully I have been so busy with the babies I have already hatched that I am not messing with the bator. But I do have day 10 circled on my calendar to candle. I will let you know what I see when I candle.

James, I know exactly how you feel. Looking forward to when the shoe is on the other foot.

Rusty, not that you need my vote but just FYI, I always leave my eggs in a couple days past their due date. I've seen a lot of talk about eggs exploding but I could tell you a story about one really bad experience with hatching eggs if I had more time that has led me to believe it's baloney. I saw these eggs actually "sweating" in the incubator and they stunk pretty bad when I pulled them out.

God Bless,

Whew, long day... I finally got the pictures. The last baby (#6) hatched and the others had no pips so I candled and had 1 late and 1 early quitter.

But six beautiful chicks. These babies are fast! All over the place and disobedient! I asked them to hold still for the pics but they would have nothing to do with it.

So, it was catch as catch can. And they would pick at anything they could find. These guys won't ever go hungry!! I would have to say they are the most agile, take care of themselves chicks ever.

Now the last chick has a little umbilicus issue but it should dry up by tomorrow. It is up and walking a little and it is still pretty brand new. So no pics of it yet, gotta stay nice and dry and warm.

Thanks James, I think so! They have the cutest feet!!!!!!!!!!! Now I get to hatch out yours!!! I am just loving these little guys. It was so funny to watch them just pick, pick pick at anything on the ground.
I can see how they are going to be great foragers and mousers. BTW my White Rock got a mouse today, kind of gross but good!

rustyswoman, Since they are day old chicks you can still box them up and send them to MN
