Mousers to the max. I found a little tiny field mouse in our garage last year when my peeps were about 10 wks old. I walked out in the drive and not thinking tossed the little thing right in the middle of four girls. After a three second pause they jumped on that poor thing like a well like a chicken on a june bug. But it was a mouse. In a year I to a point where I don't see any mice anywhere. (Accept in our garage.)

Yes, Bill still has Buckeyes, and I'm pretty sure we'd call them the Braden strain.

I hatched out a little more than 2000 chicks last year, shipped most of them sold many for local pickup.
This year I am gearing up for a bit more than that. I have 32 buckeye hens, 28 black copper marans hens and 2 partridge chanteclers all filling up 3 sportsmans and soon to be a dickey hatcher.
I have the space and the ability, I might as well have a hobby that pays for itself and then some.

I tell my wife it takes as much effort to water and feed 10 chickens as it does 230 and 2 guard dogs right????????? RIGHT!?!?!?!?!?

I'm a bit chicken crazy but I love it.

If I could, I would...you are right, and if I had my place straight, maybe I could. That is awesome, I guess you can't hear the jealousy in my key-tapping.

I don't know if I can swing a sportsman...I'll probably have to go with the fridgeman. LOL

Last spring I tried to "rig" a hatcher and it cost me 4 weeks of hatching last spring, it isn't worth it. I paid between 250-350 for the sportsmans, craigslist about this time of the year is when you want to get 'em. It is worth it, I promise!!
