RYU...
You may wish to post this on the "IA here", thread or I can do it for you. There may be some folks in your own town that would love to have them? In fact I'll throw it out now with the possibility that they may be sold already.

SO I go to the feed store to get pea seeds seems there is a shortage and you cant find snap peas anywhere well Im there and peep peep peep Im lookin at the chicks I start talkin to the lady bout how all Ive got is heritage breeds etc she says well let me show you what came in from ideal this AM I look and Im like are those Buckeyes she is like yep we got 31 they are a hard commodity this time of year or any time at that well 15 went into the truck with me home.. I know its not breeder quality but hey their Buckeyes and I thought Id be skunked this year!!!! Im happy now time to go out and get the bigger brooder dusted off!!!

Depending on what snap peas you are wanting? Sugar ann, sugar bon, sugar snap were all crop failures this year. Sugar sprint is a nice pea(stringless sugar ann)... And if your looking for a sugar snap, there is super sugar snap, but that one is very short this year also.
Cucumbers were another one that was hit hard this year, Straight 8, the main OP was a crop failure also.

They were chasen the other ones around LOL!!!!!

I do not grow peas, I just work at a seed retail/wholesale company over the winter. And do landscaping during the summer along with chickens... I added light sussex to the flock this year, and I am also looking to get some buckeyes, but I need to purchase from an NPIP flock. I contacted jamesandtressa on here and havent heard back on if they are NPIP or not. :-(.

Anyone else have some nice show buckeyes that they could spare some hatching eggs or chicks from?

Nate

I don't have a roo, so I can't help you out with that, but there are so many people on here that sell eggs and chicks that somebody should be able to hook you up!

I've got a question for those of you that show your birds at different venues.

The pic below is of a coop card and the judges comments about the bantam Buckeye my son showed over the weekend. Did somebody goof up by not awarding him a ribbon or trophy? I must not be understanding something cause I told him he might get two ribbons or maybe a trophy!
Realizing at any rate, this is still demonstrating what the Judge felt was an very fine specimen, he and I both were somewhat disappointed, that there was not even a mention of this. Also, it was a very small show and mostly run by 4-Hers so I did not ask a lot of questions. The ribbons were all handmade, cut out of paper, that kind of thing.

If you cannot read it, it is marked:
"Best AOCCL Jr." and "Res Jr. Bantam of Show" I honestly can't read whats in the box next to the circled 1. Kind of like reading a Drs. writing!

If any of you can explain this mystery, thanks for your help.

Eric
