Buckeye Rooster Mating Question

I have a small Buckeye flock: 4 hens (7 months) and 1 rooster. The hens have been laying about a month (nearly every day - I’m pretty impressed). The roo mates about twice a day, I think. The hens get quite wet just above their tails, I can tell just by looking at them that the roo has been busy. I don’t see that with the my Maran hens (different rooster - similarly busy ). Is the noticeable wetness due to the Buckeye feathering or is my Buckeye rooster somewhat incompetent? I suspect it is the feathering because the Buckeye crops (in the hens) are also very noticeabe - as they matured I actually had a moment of panic that there was something wrong with them, but they all looked the same. On the other hand, the Roo is also a very fast worker, so maybe he not positioning himself correctly? So - I was just hoping someone with more experience could clarify what is going on there. Thanks in advance.
