Budgie questions!

That's one inch bar spacing? It looks like 1/2 inch at most. Which should be fine. The footprint doesn't look very large though. It might be better to find a different cage.

It's bigger than it looks. I realize now that there's nothing in the picture to use as reference. After double checking, the bars are not exactly, but closer to 1 inch than 3/4ths, and the size is 16 in deep, 20 in tall and 25 in wide.

I think I will look for a different cage though regardless, because the plastic at the bottom would keep from letting a budgie climb up from the floor.

I have both raised and purchased budgie babies and I have found they are each their own type of personality. One budgie alone , given lots of attention, will most certainly bond to you. More than one, caged together, will bond to each other more than you, but again, they are all different, you may have one of several bond to you anyway! They are smart, clever little things, always a good choice for a pet bird. Having raised everything from Amazons to Conures to Cockatiels to 'Keets' ( what I call Budgies) they are easiest to take care of. Some time out of cage to fly for exercise is always best, providing they are safe from other pets and you curtain or shade your windows. Many a little bird has smashed into a window thinking it's the great outdoors calling their name.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I've actually found a small pet store that breeds their own babies, and they've got some beautiful little budgies in colors I've never seen in person.

I am so glad you found hand raised budgies!! I was going to tell you it is difficult to tame big pet store birds. Your situation is ideal. I had a pet budgie when I was a kid. He was completely tame, talked and lived a long time. He was a terrific little guy. I'm sure you will love yours. Also we never had problems with him dive bombing men. He seemed to like them just as much.
