Buff Barred Cochin Thread

A brother to BBQ that I shipped out today. I think these boys are going to add a lot to the breeding programs. For one thing, they have the nice loose feathering that is often lost in breeding programs. I fight to keep that in the types I breed when working on them.
Amy- I love these boys. I think you hit it on type here. Hopefully BBQ will help your project with type! I can't wait to see what his chicks look like.

I hope it follows on through because I do not want to keep a lot of extra boys as I have in the MF project just to try and go back to them with granddaughters and great granddaughters to try and get that decent feathering back in.
I have a lot of these boys that look like BBQ. The brother in the above post shows how they look exactly alike. That is in my favor. They pretty much all turned out the same. Now I just have to get it on the next generation.
Easier said than done! But I have eggs from BBQ in the bator now.

Hi, I have 5 differnet breeds of hens that I got from a hatchery back in May...One of them is twice as big as the rest and has taken to crowing ...they are still too young to be laying yet but, I noticed that your second chicken( the all gold one) on this post is identical to mine...is this a rooster?

I just found this thread~!!!!!

Here are a few pics of some of the BB I have or "had"...meaning sold. However, I have some "lovely" cockerels & a few pullets that will be available about the first of the year. I want the boys to mature a little more. They look straggly now & don't photograph too well.

The second chicken, is it a rooster also?

I need to get new pics of my little cockerel. He is looking rather different compared to my other buff barreds I hatched. He has a lot of black barring and the an orange yellow color that fades out to white. He is just really unique at this point and is making me proud every time I see him. I think it may because he is the last PB chick.:)
