Buff Orpington chicks

Orpington roosters will definitely feather out more slowly. I see the first one hasn't much as far as wing feathers either. It will be interesting to see if it ends up a rooster.

Very good to know. I'm just starting out and I have 2 WR, 2 BA and 4 BOs all will be a week old Wed and out of the OP one should be a roo and the one that we were suspecting is the roo you can barely see the any wing feathers while the rest you can see the wing feathers very will and the legs and feet are a bit thicker than everyone else.

Here is the one I think is the boy

The first one is the only one that is not showing any signs of tail feathers everyone else you can see tiny tail feathers and showing off their wing feathers even my WRs and BAs the top one is the only one that is mainly fluff

The possible roo buff chick weighs 79.5 grams, was 72.3 grams yesterday. He/she still doesn't have any feathers growing in. The definite hen weighs 67.9 grams today, was 60.6 grams yesterday.

Update with pictures of both buff Orpington chicks. An important note, I've noticed through the first week of age all of the chicks on organic feed weigh more then their same breed counterparts in the name brand feed group. The weight difference, if I recall, is atleast an 8 gram if not 10 gram difference for all three breeds.

Possible roo, organic feed

Now the definite hen. Notice the difference in feathering and weight. Name brand feed.
