Buff Orpington - picture heavy

So has anyone crossed a blue and a buff? Blue wheaten? That would be pretty....

Nugget is funny. She'll approach me if I'm sitting on a log in the pen and she'll hold very still if I carefully reach out and scratch her neck under her jaw, but she doesn't like to be held alot. It's probaby because I had such a big bunch of youngsters in her age group and didn't spend all the extra time with her. I think she'll be sweeter and sweeter as she gets close to laying. She's 19 weeks old now, can you believe it?

How old are your BO's? Mine are now 11 weeks and look very much like yours but I'm sure they still have a way to go before being actually full grown. I need to figure out how to post pictures!! Great looking birds:))

Big Momma is gorgeous! I love your golden girl's.

I love the buffs I hatched from your stock, Jody. They are fluffy and sassy and the sweetest girls. I can't believe they are already 18 weeks old!

Jody, you always are beautiful birds, even if they are in a molt..now if you want to see molt go look at myyyyy splash hen in the molting show...she was broody and then she exploded her feathers when she finally got up from setting on air!... ugly and nekked so she was!! I think she had 4 feathers left before the pin feathers started back...whew...

MP - glad you're happy with your babies too. They do grow up so fast, don't they.

TOH - that is so funny you said that. I had a broody get up after sitting all summer (no exaggeration on that either) and all her feathers just fell out. She looks horrific! But I am so relieved she is finally not broody. That girl was stubborn!

do you have any guess on how big they are and how heavy they are? i just got supose to be 3, but ended up being 2 buff orpington pullets. the other one is either a cochin or cochin x rock wich i am not to happy about that because i do not kill my chickies but i love the little guy/girl so hopefully she/he will live a normal chickie life. oh and by the way B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L girls!

Bri - the fully mature girls are easily pushing the 8 lb standard weight. Some of them like to be held (A LOT) and let's just say, it's tough to get my arms around them. lol I usually sit down and invite them on my lap for a snuggle cuz I'm so afraid I'll drop them while standing. Of course, Big Mama is a pest and likes to be toted around everywhere. I make her walk behind me a while for the exercise.

Colleen - he is looking great! His plumage is a brilliant gold, just like I enjoy.

opa - I don't think I could ever live without them again. They are a wonderful breed.
