Buff Orpington Rant thread!

Well I don't care if you're talking about the chickens but do you hate the ducks too? I personaly think that the color doesn't matter and they have an amazing personality

We seem to agree on a lot. So what do you think of gamefowl?

To be honest, I'm not well versed in the gamefowl breeds beyond the very common ones, and a few others that I've seen in passing. I've only had experience with owning Old English Game bantams and I'm not sure they really count, as delicate and small as they are But I love them to bits, my precious, cute, tiny birds I also am absolutely in love with Modern Game bantams, though I don't own any (yet) and they're pretty delicate and small like the OEGBs, too. I lean more toward itsy-bitsy tiny birds more than large fowl these days, so my tastes tend to be for the more decorative game breeds than the big, imposing ones.


But I do love the look of Flarry-eye Greys and Liege Fighters, and there are some truly gorgeous true Cornish Game varieties

As I said not too long ago on this thread, I have had many birds with amazing personalities and that actually have beautiful colorations, so I don't feel the need to own a bird whose appearance I find unappealing and boring to get the same effect.

That said, I'm not sure Buff is the same in ducks as it is in chickens. The pictures I'm seeing of Buff ducks definitely don't look the same as Buff chickens. More of a drab, kind of grayish-brown than a bright, orangeish color.

I am currently working with Fawn Silver Duckwing OEGBs, and the consequential Silver Duckwing and Khaki Silver Duckwing offspring from them. Hoping to eventually get some Silver Duckwings going on their own, and Blue Silver Duckwings and Silver Creles, too Silver duckwing variants are my favorite patterns for any chickens, so I just want a big flock of all of them.
