*Buff Orpington Thread!*

There are loads of Buff Orpington hens and cockerel for sale close to me. I am tryiing to hold back!

Lol!! Its sooo hard!! I want them ALL!! But apparently I still have too much to learn to get more.
I've now decided I don't want anymore orps until a couple of mine have passed. I'm to worried about getting cockerels and needing to rehome them, so it would be silly of me to keep getting broody breeds when I like to let them all hatch out and already have 5 broody breeds!

Bella needs to have some Buff chicks this year. You promised her !

My 2 baby girls! They r 6 months old, I've raised them from day olds. They r sooo super sweet!! The one hanging only halfway in the box, is acting differently, starting to make me think she may be thinking about going broody!! Idk if they do that this young or not, but yesterday she was searching all for nest boxes. Climbing from 1 to another over and over for like 45 minutes. This morning she laid in a different box, one nobody else has ever laid in, & stayed there for 2 hours after!! Hmmmm... Either way, she's just the best little lady ever!!

Finding Orps in my area is almost impossible. You have to buy from the feed stores and you get the smaller hatchery birds. Found someone that says they have the SOP's but they were supposed to have sent me a picture two weeks ago but nothing yet. Keep hoping. Don't want to purchase the smaller orps again. Need the larger ones to raise more from. Didn't know getting the really good orps would be that hard. I can get all I want from some hatcheries if I want 15-25 birds but I don't have that kind of room right now.

Dragonlady posted in her sig line she would have some available this year. Her Sunshine Girls are just stunning and huge. You would do better with just a trio from Dragonlady than 25 from somewhere else.
https://www.backyardchickens.com/u/120608/thedragonlady . She has over 1/2 century in purebred poultry.

It's not hard at all to get poultry shipped to you. I had my foundation trio shipped in from Montana. Just get a www.boxesforbirds.com box, lay and extra layer of cardboard on the bottom of the box so if the birds poo it doesn't stain the box itself. Get some Grogel Plus and put it in the box. I used the new triple bird box they have. There's a 3-way divider they have that separates it into 3 triangles. Great for large fowl birds. Plenty of room. And the box is about 3 ft. long. No way for it to get misplaced in transit. I got my birds USPS Express Overnight and 3 hours early!! The boxes are reusable too. BFB sizes their boxes for pigeons so the 3 bird large fowl bird is listed as a 16 pigeon box. Just tell them what you want and they will get you all set. Expect to pay 75.-90. for shipping. Well worth it for quality birds.

This is a good thing she is only offering started birds. This is very common among top breeders.

I know I did! But then I got thinking and I wouldn't want rehome them and then I would end up with even more broodies when I already have a possible 3 for this year and five for next year!! I'm still trying to decide, I might get one more in hope its a cockerel but the other chicks would need to be girls for me to know if the chicks would be pure in the end. Also am getting a couple of cockerels offered to me (not BO's) one is one that is being bullied and the other are barn cockerels from a rescue.
