My new babies. Maybe you guys can answer a few questions that I have. They all seem happy and healthy except one. She looks healthy but seems to be sleeping a lot. She has been eating but not drinking.

They all pile up under the lamp and go to sleep but they do venture out to eat. Are they just sleepy or are they cold.

My smallest one is very fiesty. She jumps on top of the group and bounces around all over the place. She is a day old. She has a kind of bald spot on the back of her neck..is this normal. Her name is Molly. We hope she is really a girl.

Make sure she drinks, she might need some assistance at first. You can dip her beak in the water often until she gets it. Maybe put some electrolytes or sugar in the water too. They could be cold, how big of a space are they in? Is the heat lamp close to them? Have you checked the temp?

If chicks are piling up , they are too cold. Try dropping your heat lamp down until they sleep more spread out but together. You must also make sure they all drink.I add some ( about 1 Teaspoon ) Gator Ade powder to the water for newly hatched chicks too. Try that, and make certain that the little one drinks. Egg yolk will just make a mess.

All the beautiful pics make me anxious for my girls to grow up. I can't wait to see these gorgeous ladies completely feathered now.
