Buff Orpington x Barred Rock, is that a sexlink?

What do they look like when hatched?
Like black sex link chicks.
Most often BSL are RIR over BR so the only difference color wise is that the OP will be using a buff rooster instead of a red rooster.
As far as the chicks go the black will cover the buff the same as it does the red so BSL chicks. Black with head spots are males. Black without head spots are female.

No, that's not what I was talking about. Why did you order a couple male chicks?
Always need extra in case one doesn't make it in shipping, predation loss, or illness.. plus it allows for different personalities. Bro's gotta have back up yo! :D

I never have less than 2 if I can help it.

Getting around 20 pullets, and wanting to have a good percentage of fertile eggs so that if a hen or two go to setting it can be useful. Like somebody else commented, there are lots of things that can happen.
Last year, we had 3 lavender Orpington roosters, with around 22 hens.
