Bugs crawling out vent!!!

Help!
My hen has been very lathargic and strange. My local vet said they could check a fresh stool sample. I realized she isn't really pooping so I lifted up her tail feathers and there are thousands/hundreds of grayish/tan bugs crawling all over and out of her vent

By bugs, do you mean lice or maggots? If lice, you need to treat with a permethrin dust or spray. If maggots, it is called fly strike and you need to bath her and remove them with tweezers. They may have eaten their way inside her and you will need to fish them out.

Do you mind getting a photo? I've never heard of anything like that happening!

Unfortunately the bugs are likely to be secondary to something more serious but we need more info.
