Building a Coop and Run Idea's

Hi Everyone,

Im starting to gather together some idea's for when I build a bigger Chicken Coop and Run and how much I should be setting aside for it. Im thinking I want it to house about 20 Chickens and ill keep my old smaller coop if I ever want chicks again.

Has anyone got any recommendations on things they wished they did, did different, idea's, do's, do not's?

I know so far I want a tin roof to catch the water into a tank and have water feeders hooked to the tank. And enough room for a yard to be attached that I can let them out into when im with them. That's all so far.

Make sure to have covered run if you get lots of rain in your area, otherwise it will be a muddy mess, in turn muddy eggs.

If you plan on having 20 birds, size it large enough for 40 or 50.
You won't regret having too large a coop, just too small.

My coop was sized for around 2 dozen, I maintain around 1 dozen.
Still wish it was larger...
Much easier to maintain.

Double and even triple wire, foxes can and will chew through wire. I lost three to that early last year

I was going to use the same stuff my little coop is made from because the foxes come check the coop every day but have never got in it.

Yeah but stil double wire
