Building My First Coop

Pics
Gable vent is in , had to trim the top flange corners to fit but that was easy with the tin snips .

I'm also going to mount a power strip inside someplace high for a heated water station and light . I have a GFI outlet about 10' away on the shed .

Power strip installed , used an in - use outdoor box extension cover to finish outside where cord goes through wall. I have a waterproof cord connect cover for when I plug the extension cord in .

Nice! Is it officially done now?

Thank you . Not quite done just yet , I still have to get a gable vent in on the gable end into the run . I'll try to get that done today or I need to get that done today . My daughter just got tracking number on the birds so maybe they'll be here tomorrow or Thursday ?

Ok , now I think I can call it "Officially Done" :wee. I made this gable vent as big as I could without having to cut into any framing . I can use card board to throttle it down if necessary since it is out of the weather and if I find I need more venting I can make something up on the lower sides of both gable ends , but I'll see how this works out .
Gotta run to the post office now and make sure that they have my number and know to call me as soon as birds show up .

Wood shavings are in , just waiting on occupants .

That’s a nice touch with the house-shaped vent trim! Beautiful project all around. I really enjoyed following, thank you for all the pictures and details! Will you be updating the thread with chicken news now? Would be nice to see how they like it :)

Thanks much , I enjoyed myself with this , glad you liked . I'll update here on the occupants and on any changes or upgrades I make in the future . I am going to be putting a wireless thermometer humidity monitor transmitter in the coop so I can track temp and humidity levels in there . Now I've got a day of cleaning up around the coop and run and then onto other projects . :D

Post Office called at 6:10 this morn , went right down and picked up the birds :ya . Put food , water , grit in coop for them , got a huddle box setup and one of those "Cozy Heaters" in there . The birds all look good , active , healthy looking . For 4 week olds they are a tad bigger than I expected , but they could be a touch older . The boys were like 3 foxes trying to get a glimpse of the birds but I told them to let them be for a while and get accustomed to their new home and get some food and water in them . They grudgingly went back to getting ready for school , they are pretty excited . I'll get some pics up later , it was too dark and too much was going on for me to snap pics this morn .
