Are you going to construct as a tractor or as a fixed coop? If you are going to do a fixed coop there are a couple more things you can do to make it more roebust. There is a thread on BYC of a hoop coop built as a tractor that is very long designed to be pulled through an Almond orchard or nut orchard of some kind. But it was a good four cattle panels long... meaning the height of the panel which is 50 inches edge to edge made the hoop coop a good 200 inches long. or 16 feet 8 inches. because of the lenght he had to put in a cross piece in the middle. The memory of the cattle panel wire wanted to straighten out so the edges of the base wouldnt stay straight.

I personally don't really care for hoop coops. The only place you can stand in them is in the middle. And all the pieces for the end have to be cut and fitted. Then there is the wasted space between the coops if you have several.

If I were to do one for myself though I wouldn't try to cut a frame to fit the rounded end I would just do a square piece of cattle panel and fasten the wire to it. Believe me there is enough structural strength in that wire to support the ends. Then make a door out of cattle panel cut from cattle panel wire. Hinge would be hog rings on one edge Lock would be hooks on the other edge. a wooden lip on the outside and on the inside would protect from scratches and still allow the door to be closed flush with the rest of the panel.

Experience with aviary construction had me build air locks out of wire but any latch had to be open-able from the inside as well as the outside... I heard a story about someone going through the cage door to tend his finches and shut the door behind him.... not realizing he couldn't open it from the inside. He spent four hours sitting in there till his wife came home from work to let him out. LOL.... My aviary wire is 12.5 gauge you cant even get your finger tips through the spacing either. To move them about you have to use hooks with a handle. Or fasten wire handles to em.
