I think about genes too. If I had kids with a hunky man (talking about later not now LOL) then our child(s) may get my fast metabolism.. I'm okay with that. In fact I encourage it just like my mom does with me. I would want my kids to be healthy most of their lives, which is most important. I want to see them eat like a hog like me and not get too fat. Enjoy the wonders of food

Yesterday I ate one of those small tubs of Ben and Jerry's ice cream... All American something something, had vanilla ice cream with caramel and lots of waffle cone pieces in it. Gotta love good ice cream. The healthy food at my school irritates me too. It's in a small amount, what I call baby snacks, and it lacks alot of... Flavor? Eh. I don't know. The law wants us to be healthy but I think I might get sick from eating that school food. I bring my lunches most of the time. Today I'm taking nachos and cheese with soda. Haha take that California law. :p Plus if I don't eat when I'm hungry I get sick-like symptoms. Headaches, nausea, upset stomach, a very bad moodswing too.. I'm not sure if that's my metabolism doing that saying "give me food or i hurt you" but my parents haven't thought anything of it so it never really bothered me. It is something to think about though from time to time. And no I don't have worms LOL!

Being lean isn't bad, but 'naturally' skinny isn't always good. If you are skinny without exercise you can be damaging your health as much as being heavily overweight can damage you.

I wouldn't worry too much about developing a bust line while in high school, because many women do not fill out until they are 18-25. The human body never really stops changing and you keep maturing past puberty.
I had a few people comment to me about my supposed weight while in high school as well. My arms and legs are much thinner than the average girls where I went to school, and I never wore clothes that showed my body shape [out of insecurity], so no one really knew that I was a healthy weight. People assumed my tiny wrists indicated the rest of me was stick thin so once or twice a month someone would ask me if I ever ate more than once a day.

I would recommend starting some kind of exercise for at least an hour every day or every other day though, even if it's just marching in place. Do it to keep your heart and body health first, looks second. Health should always come before beauty, IMO. Even skinny people can fall prey to cardiovascular issues and other health ailments without regular exercise. I've started to feel some health issues from becoming lazy the past few years so I have started to change my habits to reverse those feelings and get health again.
You don't need fancy equipment to do basic exercises, just be sure to stretch and warm up first. Don't get too worried about becoming a muscle bound, body builder type, either. Women have to work especially hard, and usually supplement some unsavory products, to get hulking bodies.

Using catalog and magazine models isn't a fair comparison with the amount of personal training, dieting, make up, use of camera angles, lighting, holding in these muscles, clenching those muscles and computer correcting the printed pictures have. The image you see on the page is almost always far different from what the person actually looks like. Even on the runway, the VS angels have spend all day working on looking their best, and even involves dehydration to decrease bloating and make the skin look tighter, so it's not a fair portrait of health.
An interesting comparison could be when men look to body builders as having perfect, healthy physiques, when at competition they are actually fairly weak. All their muscle is built up to look pretty not be functional, and they will fast/dehydrate themselves before the show to make their muscles 'pop' more. A better model of healthy muscled men to aspire too would be strongmen who may look bulky or even fat, but have real strength built into their bodies.

I would look towards athletes, swimmers, runners, even boxers, as inspirational models over people that make a living looking pretty. As I said before, a healthy body with functional muscle is better than one that fits the ever changing 'standard' of beauty.

About the last part, I don't believe being thin is the standard of beauty. I'm getting real sick and tired of these jerks, more girls than guys, making fun of me. I was intrested in playing la cross, it's like the funnest game ever other than hide and seek or tag, but my high school doesn't have la cross. I do have my pretty role models more than whatever else kind of role model there be. All the things that have inspired me when I was young weren't even real. Alot of cartoons and movies basically.
I exercise. 5 days a week I have to walk around my school with a heavy backpack. Lifting and walking. Phew. I can't do a single correct push-up though, I'm too afraid I'll break my arms if I try too hard. Then I have to feed and water all my animals everyday. And I dance to music when I have nothing else to do. I'm not a good dancer, but it's about feeling the music and expression, not impressing others.

I don't think I'm the definition of skinny. My dad says I'm lean not skinny. I imagine a true skinny person like bones poking out everywhere. My ribs only stick out a little at the bottom and my shoulder blades are rather noticeable, but I think that's normal for people with a high metabolism. If I stretch to one side (like an arm stretch) my ribs become really noticeable. I can feel them too! My hips are always there, my ankles and feet are kinda nimble, and the bones on my chest right under my neck are noticeable. I think it looks fine.

Alot of people have said that I have a pretty face though. My face isn't gaunt or sickly looking at all. I'm not a size 0 either. I'm a size 3-4 depending on pants. I'm like in the middle and that's good. Someone at Tilly's gave me size 0 pants to try on and they didn't go past my ankles. Gosh they were tight!
Anyways, I don't really want to change my body too much because then it makes me no better than the girls who starved to change. Be happy with who you are.

I know exactly how you feel!
I don't know why I'm so small because I love to run and I eat a lot!
It just boggles my mind how some people play one sport and go to a practice once a week, and still have huge muscular legs! I play soccer and volleyball, and let me tell you, they both include a lot of running! A lot of people greatly under estimate volleyball. Sure, maybe the games don't include much running, but practices sure do. I have volleyball 3 nights a week and soccer once a week (But it's going to start being 3 times once spring starts) and do a ton of running. I'm also thinking about running track. And still, my legs are so small! And I'm as skinny as a stick.

It just irritates me because some girls look like they do all these sports when they hardly do one, and you can hardly tell by looking at me that I do any. It was really fun at gym class because no one was really expecting my athleticism.

I know you're not talking about sports and such, but this is just how I feel.

I actually want to start dating after highschool because I know no one who is truly committed... Well one guy but my friend has him. Everyone else is like "i just wanna date to have a gf" well, I want a relationship to prepare for the future. A guy with a good education would be nice, a good husband, faithful, hardworker, etc. Who will love me for me too. I don't know how long I'm going to be this thin and when I turn average adult age I want to look like a woman. Not too big but atleast a Jessica Alba body. And I want real opinions from other users on this forum too... I always fear I will never be good enough looks wise because alot of men these days want thicker curvier girls. I do have confidence but I'd say my lean body is my biggest insecurity.
A "popular" guy has told me I look "aight" because of my frame, that my proportions are all right. >_> Maybe he said that just to make me shutup lol.

Dating for me is rather anoption. If a suitable guy comes along who I like, sure I'll take the plunge.
But you sound like you're in the right frame of mind for looking for a partner. :thumbsup I had a lot of friends who dated just to date, and those relationships never turned out well.
Hey, "all right" is a compliment coming from some people, especially those who don't express their opinions as much. Such as myself.

(Sorry I didn't reply sooner, the new title of the thread threw me off. :p)

Good point. I probably DO need to start doing a bit more exercise, my present levels of which sit at around three hours of walking every weekend. (Paper round) But as part of this darned CAS program I'm going to have to take up three different sports (the horror!) so that should be more than enough.

I was skinny all my life. Ribs showing, hip bones sticking out, built like a carpenter's dream---2x4 and not a curve on me. I was made fun of, poked and prodded and made to feel some how inferior. I am happy to report to you that I did grow a curvy shape--in my middle age lol. I am 5'8" and used to struggle to keep my weight up to 120 pounds. Right now I weigh 145 and I like it. Haha- I have the last laugh--I'm not fat!!

My daughter is skinny just like I was. She is in the flat chested catagory, is happily married and found that guy who loves her for who she is, not her chest.

Don't let someone else's opinion mess up your day. It is an opinion and it is not your reality. Be glad you are thin, when you hit middle age you won't be fat.

Do all you know how hard it is to stop once they start teasing I was teased unmercifully, things being hurled at me in class I got into a few fights I don't say to get into a fight over this but let me put it this way if in school this is the only thing sometime you can do to get it through to your tormentors and if a adult make sure you are doing it for a good reason because you can/will be charged with assult and I find to walk away first but if touched pushed shoved hit punched then you have every right to protect yourself. I don't think words are enough but sometimes then can drive you to do something you will regret.

If you are in school tell the teacher or the vice priciple or principle or your parent ALWAYS YOUR PARENTS and tell them it will not stop and then if adult try to walk away you are abetter person then them you can try to walk away from your tomentor in school but most of the time they follow you. if a teacher doesn't do anything then go to someone in the school who will if nothing is done then let your folks do what is needed then if they don't go to the school conseler, if they don't I don't know I have not been that far I reckon to write to the school board.

I wish I could help you more be it if you are in school or a adult.

Males and females both do tend to treat females as hotornot.com, and 'beauty' is well defined for the general population on a daily basis. Pretty ingrained in our culture it seems. Can't list the number of television shows that depict an overweight husband with a fit, 'hot' wife, or we'd be here all day.

This is a case I might actually support just shooting a rating right back at people. It doesn't have to be said nastily (actually, playing it chill will come out better for you), but it will probably serve as a wake up call in any reasonably self-aware person.
