I am new to chickens but seem to have around 15 with bumblefoot. Could you please tell me What is durasole and where can I get it?I don't get too aggressive when they look like this and there is no lameness. At this stage I'll just dab Durasole on it and observe. If there is swelling and lameness I will soak in epsom salt and apply a drawing salve, wrap it and check/change daily. I try to avoid cutting open as much as possible. If you do have to cut out it is recommended to use an antibiotic.
Durasole is a horse hoof treatment that contains formalin and other ingredients. I used this when I had an entire flock come down with it due to constant rain. Wear gloves as it will stain skin and clothes. This is OFF LABEL use and I can't tell you how long egg withdrawal is . I order it from Jeffers Vet supply or Valley Vet. Dab a few drops on infected area once a day for seven days then reevaluate. Worked great on my flock. Please understand this is a product designed to treat thrush in horse's hooves.I am new to chickens but seem to have around 15 with bumblefoot. Thanks in advance.
