If you talking about bumble foot she wouldn’t want to walk on it or she’d walk limping. Use reg salty water

Um Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, no salt. It is used to help soften skin and I imagine that is why it is recommended for foot soaks for ducks (and people).

@AshleyNicole06 Epsom salt can be found in pharmacies, grocery stores, etc. Usually it is with bath products or in the first aid aisle.
I wouldn't use regular salt because bumblefoot is a sore and sores burn when they come in contact with salt (unless really diluted). But, if you don't have Epsom salts warm water will be ok. The Epsom salt helps to soften the skin. I know some apply coconut oil and such to help too. If you see a "corn", you can pick at it and eventually a plug of chunky puss can come out.
Bumblefoot is actually a staph infection so it is important to take care of it promptly so that it doesn't spread.
Also, if you can take a pic of your duck's foot that would be even better so that we can see and not guess if your duck has it or not.

Magnesium sulfate is a salt, it’s just not what we typically think of when adding it to our dinner plate (sodium chloride). Epsom salt is said to draw out the infection. And what that means is as the salt is entering the skin, our cells shrivel to protect us. Most bacteria also can not live in a salty environment. So while our cells are shriveled to protect us, the salt can reach the bacteria to a certain extent. And kills it little by little. Which is also why Epsom salt soaks take forever when the foot is healing. It takes the ducks immune system a long time to dissolve the infected and dead hard tissue. I’m sure you know most of this so I’m just posting for other readers.

Oh my yes. I would say that's bumble. your gonna need to start treating that as soon as possible.

Pretty long thread. . but it's worth reading over. This young gal went through heck and back to fix her poor ducks feet.

You may have to end up doing some minor surgery. . but don't do too much too fast or just start cutting away at it by any means. . if I understand correctly the bumble is staff infection and you don't want to force that into the blood stream by cutting into it. I would Start with daily soaks in the Epsom salt and apply clear iodine after it's dry to start getting it loosened up and drawn out where you can kind of start working out that plug. Your will eventually need to get out that whole plug of hard puss. Once you get it out you can pack the hole with antibiotic ointment and bandage. You'll have to keep her somewhere clean while it heals.

Okay, I will be looking for Epsom salt tomorrow... Is her foot bad? Can it be treated without going to a vet? I'm new to ducks.. Only have had them a little over a year.
