Bumble Foot??

Pics
I have been watching a couple of my Salmon Faverolles that have scabs but didn't have bumble well yesterday one did and I was able to peel off the scab and get the bumble right out. I was actually amazed at how easy it was this bumble was very ready. Mind you this is a chicken but I think if we give the soaks and treatment time it's a lot better On the bird and us.

I'm going to message you a question I have about the breed.

I have two Welsummer hens who live under the exact same (pampered) conditions as the rest of my girls yet I have come to the conclusion that they are just much more susceptible to bumblefoot.
I am constantly vigilant with those two.
Although it’s easy to peel off the scab after a soak, never once has the “bumble core” come out as a solid piece or even been identifiable.
Instead, their’s has always been more of a diffuse inflamation inside.
I am always puzzled by this.

Having this happen was not normal here either. I hadn't checked this ones feet in a couple days because it had been raining so much so when I picked her up to check I was pretty surprised to see the redness in swelling had come on so fast, and to just be able to start peeling and the hole opened right up like an abscess does if let on it's on. Most of the bumble came out with the scab there was a tiny bit left so I had to pick that out. Today I change the bandage hoping it is not filthy in there you know how chickens love to scratch Even wrapping as good as I can with vet wrap they still manage to get dirt down in there.

Now @AshleyNicole06 tell us how your duck is doing have you been soaking?

My first case of Bumblefoot (Silkie X roo) presented as a perfect example of the infection. It had the scab that loosened with foot soaks and antibiotics. When I pulled the scab the core - all of it - came with it. It only took 5 days for the scab/core to come out and another 5 days for the crater to heal.

My current two cases are a nightmare. There isn't a single core - I'm pulling out pieces daily. Almost like the core has splintered or it's formed multiple cores. The primary difference between these two cases and my first one is the swelling. There was none in the first case and so much in one of the current cases my vet had to lance and drain it.

Yes, up date on your duck, please. I'm hope she's well.

I have been soaking her foot in Epsom salt water. Yesterday.. I had someone come help me and we tried to pull it out.. I wrapped her up in a towel. we tried to grab at It with tweezers but it wasn't working. She stayed calm for the most part.. And that was scary because she's crazy! Lol

Her foot bled a lot.. I didn't think she was okay because she was so calm, so i unwrapped her and she went running towards her friends.

I plan on doing another soak today.. She seems fine. Still eating and drinking and probably enjoying our rain storm.
