Bumblefoot help please

You have gotten very good advice if you can't go to the vet. I tried the soaks and the iodine on my duck Wounded when she got bumble. It just ended up being too stressful for both of us. I could afford the vet and have a good avian vet only 5miles away. I am lucky. Went to the vet and got antibiotics and it mostly cleared in about 7 days. This is a staph infection I would suggest you "spring clean" your coop. I am not suggesting that your coop is dirty, we all struggle with this as it is very common. I think Mine got it from cutting her feet on sweet gum balls. I really don't know if cleaning the coop will help or not. My vet suggested it but maybe just to give me something to do.

You make good points here!!! Same goes for me, I am 20 minutes away from the vets office and it’s less stressful on both of us!

Since it seems everything for ducks is off label I had to sign forms that said I would never sell her eggs or meat once she had the antibiotics. Never planned to eat her, but I did start eating the eggs again after about 6. So I get a little antibiotic in my egg:idunno
Forgot to tell the coyote about not eating the meat part. Poor Wounded, she was a good duck.

It’s not an over night fix. But if you work on it by soaking in warm Epsom salt water. To help soften up the scabs and use clear iodine to help bring the bumble to the surface you can probably take care of it yourself. The one with the worse you might want to take to the vet if you have the means to do it then you can work on the ones that aren’t so bad.

You might also add sugar to that iodine. I've only had chickens so might be tough with ducks who tend towards water. But a chicken-woman helped me to take iodine soaked sugar on a soft cotton pad. Cut the pad to a size that will cover the pad of foot. Scoopu up some iodine sugar and gently put in on the bumble scab and wrap the foot with 3M stretchy medical tape--not to tight but tight enough to hold on. The ends press together. I tended to leave it on my girls for a couple of days. Then change it out. Probably better to do it daily. Sorry you have to deal with this. Very best to you and your duckies! And others out there, pleas correct me if I'm off base!
