Bumblefoot... how to proceed???

Quote: Definitely work on the roost bar situation. Heavy birds come down hard on their pads. I keep my roost bar about 15 inches off the floor and even then, I watch my heavy birds hit hard jumping off. It might not hurt to put some antibiotic ointment on her pad as well. Or even some Preparation H to help with swelling. She should heal over in a few weeks.

Keep us posted! :)

And yes, they can sprain their legs and foot joints coming down hard as well. One of my heavier birds turned up limping a couple of weeks ago. She loves to get up on a shelf that is about 4 feet off the floor and I am sure she came down too hard off of it. I have since blocked it off so she can't get up there. I caged her for a couple of days to keep her from walking on the leg too much. Took about 2 weeks for her to completely stop limping.
