Bumblefoot in a Silver Appleyard duck

Hello..That actually started a Bumble foot. Now it actually looks as though the bone is involved and a antibiotic is needed. In sever cases it can be life threatening. A vet is needed.
Best wishes.
Vet is not an option, unfortunately... Ugh, that stinks...

This is a dumb question but I have a wormer which contains an antibiotic. Is there any way it could benefit?

So what I am seeing is soak, apply iodine, then soak the next day and try to scrape out pus before applying the iodine again. Unfortunately, this case with Hailey looks nothing like all the other bumbles I've seen on ducks. There doesn't appear to be any plug to pull out, only swelling and the site of entry. :hmm

No way to find out what's going on except to do it, I guess? I will pick up clear iodine when I go into town next.

I agree that you probably need antibiotics, and of course vet care is always best if that's available.

I do see what look like might be a "plug" but I'm just not sure how much pus you would be able to express out of the small hole once you get the plug out.

No...You will need a shot of slow release antibiotics for her..
Sorry it won't be a simple fix..
Hurray... or something. :he

Duck puss is actually thick and really hard to get out.
Any livestock vets around that would give you the antibiotics?..All they need is her weight..
That I don't know. There is a bird vet within several hours' drive, but they are prohibitively expensive. I will have to check with a few friends to see if they have other livestock vets that would supply it.

Can you get Penicillin at feed stores in Canada? what about that for an antibiotic @casportpony?
I have never seen it on the shelf.

Yes, that's a small plug.
