@AyresWorksFarm, I think you need to amputate your duck's penis.
Is a vet an option? If not, it's easy enough to do at home.

I agree. . but I was sceerd to say it@AyresWorksFarm, I think you need to amputate your duck's penis. Is a vet an option? If not, it's easy enough to do at home.
A vet would be best, but if no vet....You going to give info on how to do it? I’d like to know myself since I have drakes.
I don't think I would want to poke a hole. That could push infection into the blood stream. My drake had bumblefoot too... not a good idea to touch the infection with your bare hands though. It’s basically made up of bacteria. It’s good to soak it, a lot of people just tear it off, but that’s awfully painful for the duck. Soak it in epsom salt, and then See if you can poke a small hole in it and pour hydrogen peroxide on it. Let it bubble and in a few days of soaking, if it’s soft enough, try to remove it. If not though, maybe try to find another way to heal it from the outside in.
What about bleeding?A vet would be best, but if no vet....
When I did mine I gathered my materials first.
Next.
- Chlorhexidine to clean penis and surrounding tissues (betadine could be used too)
- Gauze pads
- Scalpel to remove dead tissue
- Clean penis and surrounding area with chlorhexidine or betadine.
- Extend penis
- Amputate at the point where the tissue looks healthy
- Apply more chlorhexidine or betadine.
Hopefully there won't be a lot of bleeding since the part that is getting cut off should be dead tissue. What about bleeding?
