I live in southern Ontario Canada and last year I had about 4 or 5 of my chickens get bumblefoot. I lovongly soaked chicken feet for 20 min in epsom salts every 3 days, sprayed the foot with rubbing alcohol and bactine, covered with a small piece of guaze with some polysporin cream amd held that on with vet wrap....repating every 3 days until swelling had gone down. Im 1 case i cut the bble open to try to dig out the kernal but to no avail. All birds recovered and the vetwrap treatments seemed to make it disappear over the month of so. Now, at a mew farm with less gravelly surfaces and cleaner set up, I have a hen with bumblefoot again. Same time of year. What gives? They are free rangers and go into a coop at night. Lots of room. Is it the heat? First week its really been hot here this year.
